For TenneT we are looking for an experienced: Packaging Engineer for the Workplace Services team.
Unit:
The Business Technology Organization (BTO) unit at TenneT is a crucial division that manages the intersection of business needs and technological solutions, playing a significant role in supporting TenneT’s operations and energy transition initiatives. Specific Workplace Services at TenneT focuses on providing tailored IT and operational technology (OT) solutions for specialized workplace environments, particularly those critical to TenneT’s electricity transmission and infrastructure operations. Specific Workplace Services also lays a vital role in enabling TenneT’s employees to work efficiently and reliably with software and systems that are integral to the energy transmission process. This team bridges the gap between standard IT services and the specialized requirements of TenneT’s energy infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations across the organization.
Function:
In this role, you are responsible for developing, implementing and optimizing software packages within a complex OT environment. With demonstrable years of experience, you are an absolute authority in the field of software packaging. You roll up your sleeves and have a positive attitude. You coordinate and communicate well. You ensure that the packaging process runs smoothly and according to the highest standards. You have experience working in an Agile environment.
Within the Specific Workplace Services team, you work intensively with your colleagues, in which you also participate in the 24/7 breakdown service. This means that you must take into account a 24/7 service once every 7 to 8 weeks, where you are on standby and must take into account follow-up of breakdowns.
Tasks and responsibilities:
• Development and Testing of Software Packages: Design, create, and rigorously test software packages to ensure smooth deployment within TenneT’s complex OT environment. This includes handling unique configurations required for both legacy systems and modern applications, ensuring compatibility, performance, and security.
• User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Facilitation: Collaborate closely with end-users to guide and support user acceptance testing. Gather detailed feedback to validate that each package meets operational needs and performs reliably across diverse workplace setups.
• Incident and Problem Resolution: Identify, analyze, and resolve incidents or issues related to software packages. This involves troubleshooting complex problems across various legacy and modern systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal functionality.
• Documentation and Process Standardization: Develop, maintain, and update comprehensive documentation for all packages, configurations, and deployment procedures. This ensures clarity and consistency for current processes and aids future upgrades, especially given the legacy nature of some systems.
• Reporting and Continuous Improvement Recommendations: Provide detailed reports on completed tasks, package performance, and incidents managed. Based on insights gained, recommend enhancements to packaging processes, aiming to improve efficiency, compatibility, and user satisfaction across TenneT’s critical infrastructure.
Profile:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Management).
• 8+ years of experience as a Package Specialist in complex IT environments, with a focus on legacy and modern systems.
• Proficient in Flexapps, legacy applications, Windows 10/11, and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) for software deployment.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, Microsoft Certified, AdminStudio, SCCM); please specify certifications held.
• Basic networking and IT management knowledge, able to interpret and implement technical requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for complex technical issues.
• Effective communicator, able to work with internal and external stakeholders and translate technical details for non-technical audiences.
• Independent and results-oriented: Able to plan and complete tasks on schedule.
• Experience in team planning and 24/7 on-call coordination.
• Agile work experience, flexible and adaptive to shifting priorities.
• Cybersecurity knowledge, especially for OT environments.
• Proficiency in English is required, as it is the primary working language. Some knowledge of Dutch is a plus, as it can enhance communication with local teams and stakeholders.
